ABOUT THE PROJECT

This report outlines the design and implementation of a 20 sq.m. monochromatic showroom for the designer clothing label, "Matveeva Fine Garment". The showroom is situated within the “Osobnyak” mall, a hotspot for Ukrainian fashion brands.

CLIENT

Matveeva Fine Garment is a unique label that marries functionality, natural materials, and engineering ingenuity. The brand's collections are characterized by geometric designs and monochromatic palettes. Sonya Matveeva, the creator, doesn't pigeonhole her fashion line, but it's often referred to as “new gothic” and “grunge chic”.

RESULT

Our goal was to design an attractive showroom that underscored the brand's unique appeal. The showroom's aesthetics echo the style of Sonya Matveeva, whose creations are more akin to art pieces than mere clothing. We also aimed to give the impression of a larger space. We used mirrors, lighting, and color schemes to achieve this. A mirrored wall enhances brightness and adds depth to the room. A black ceiling paired with light walls creates a stark contrast, softened by rounded shapes and uneven lines. We used textiles to camouflage pipes, wires, and a storage niche on the wall opposite the mirror. A vintage chest of drawers, filled with clothing care products and stationery, is a key feature of the room.

Mobile spotlights guide customers to the showcased items, while accent lighting provides optimal item visibility. Ceiling-mounted clothes racks, courtesy of Churina Design studio, use the available space effectively. Other interior details augment the overall design without creating unnecessary distractions, such as ceiling-mounted metal shelves for accessories. The final piece of the design puzzle is an M-shaped logo made from burned plywood. The end product is a chic showroom that entices visitors to keep coming back to discover the designer’s latest offerings.
